THE RESHAPE™ WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM PROVIDES PATIENTS WITH A NON-SURGICAL SOLUTION

The ReShape™ procedure is an alternative to surgical weight loss solutions. The system utilizes two balloons which are placed in the stomach, paired with a specialized nutrition program, to encourage lasting weight loss in patients. Dr. H. Joseph Naim provides the ReShape™ Weight Loss program at his Los Angeles, Long Beach and Orange County offices. ReShape™ is appropriate for patients with a body mass index (BMI) between 30 and 40 with a co-morbid condition, such as diabetes or high blood pressure. The treatment is best for patients who not only want to slim down, but also have a strong desire to implement a healthier lifestyle. 

How is the ReShape™ Dual Balloon System Placed?

Dr. Naim can typically complete the outpatient ReShape™ procedure in 20 minutes or less. Prior to inserting the balloons, we will provide you with light anesthesia so you are comfortable and relaxed during the procedure. The balloons will be inserted endoscopically, or through the mouth, and into the stomach. Dr. Naim then fills the balloons with a saline solution through the endoscope and the procedure is complete. Once the anesthesia wears off, you can return home, although you may need a day or two off of work as the balloons can cause some discomfort.

The ReShape™ procedure does not require an overnight stay, and can typically be completed in 20 minutes or less.

What Can I Expect with the ReShape™ Program?

The ReShape™ program consists of three phases:

First Phase

The first step involves your consultation with Dr. Naim. During this visit, he will conduct a thorough medical evaluation to ensure you are a good candidate for the program. He will also provide you with educational materials to prepare you for the next steps in the program. 

Second Phase

The second step involves inserting the balloons, which are left in place for a total of six months. The balloons serve to help you control your portions and also curb your appetite. During this time, you will receive personalized coaching to help you make healthy choices regarding your diet and exercise. After six months, Dr. Naim will remove the balloons endoscopically.

Third Phase

Step three of the ReShape™ program provides you with an additional six months of coaching and support. This helps to ensure you not only achieve your goal weight, but also provides the necessary tools to maintain that weight long term.
